Roly Grant (2009)

I was desperately saddened to hear of Simon’s passing. He was an immensely warm-hearted and kind man whose infectious love for literature probably influenced my life choices more than any other teacher. Under his tutelage I developed a particular love for E.M Forster and Jane Austen, which stayed with me throughout university and resulted in me taking a master’s degree in literature. He was also my form teacher through sixth form, always generous with his time but also possessing a dry, sometimes mischievous sense of humour. Those two years in room 176 were some of my happiest at KES. He will be massively missed - all best wishes to Greg and the rest of the family at this difficult time.
