On the way back from a debating competition, Mr Stacey and I spoke about how noisy the world can be, and how the pull of phones and social media have eroded our ability to think critically. This related to the worldly evaluation crucial for good debating, but also to our own everyday; how can we get better if we never reflect on the past? How can we be content if we don't take time to reflect and appreciate? This philosophy has guided me through university so far and the tendency to think, and to think deeply, is what I will remember about Mr Stacey. During that conversation in his car, I felt grown-up and equal. Thank you for inspiring me.
