I have extremely fond memories of Mr Stacey, mostly from the long hours of debating practice in room 176. A couple of stand out moments: - In the car to a competition, Mr Stacey demanding to know of me and my fellow year 10 whether we believed in free will, all the while blasting his favourite band - Old Crow Medicine Show. - Mr Stacey refusing to go into a chain coffee shop before a competition, instead forcing a barely open Italian restaurant to clear us a table and serve us some drinks. - So enraged by our being placed last in a debate, Mr Stacey referring to the judge as “that black eyed twonk”. Said black eyed twonk being directly behind Mr Stacey and very much within earshot. Said black eyed twonk also being the judge in our next debate. I’ll remember Mr Stacey as a generous, brilliant man. He will very much be missed. Patrick Wernham (2015)
